Mean Girls vs Heathers

Mean Girls is one of the most witty, entertaining and awesome films ever in my opinion. Its a movie I never tire of. The other day I watched it and then watched it again two days later. I've seen it hundreds of times. Its quotable, the characters are ace, and the storyline is awesome. I get that it isn't a 'great' movie like The Godfather, but for its genre (teen comedy/drama) I think it's wonderful.
And then I watched Heathers.

The White Walkers = AI

The biggest threat (or asset) to humanity's existence is accelerating towards us at an enormous pace. We are already seeing examples of these beings (that we created to help us) in action all around; on devices we use and in our supermarkets. Pretty soon these creatures will be taking over thousands of jobs across the world, performing them at a pace far better than humans. Yes, I'm talking about Artificial Intelligence.

Tyrion Lannister: My Lion

In the books, Tyrion is described as an ugly man, who is short and deformed. While he is still a dwarf in the show, he is definitely not ugly. But what makes Tyrion so attractive to me are a range of factors - his intelligence, wit, kindness, bravery, pragmatism, honesty and maturity. Not to mention virility (if his hookers are anything to go by).

Unintentional Book Promo

Earlier today I played a gig at a small family festival in London. I took it upon to myself to bring my author copy of my newly published book
(which you can purchase here: with me.

Generation Y Me

One of the wonderful things about YouTube is the ability to constantly discover new information with a few simple clicks. Many people prefer visual learning to reading, and watching a colourful and engaging video with different images and good lighting helps to draw viewers in. (Its also why I put a lot of images in my blog posts; anyone would be turned off by a giant block of text).

Should you pay for reviews?

I write a music blog. I started it late last year (2017). The idea was my dad's and it was a pretty great one. I started reviewing music sent to me from people at my uni. Then in January I got inspired by a lecture to start charging for my reviews. My writing is good, and I am very positive and don't 'slander' anyone - even if something isn't my thing I write about it objectively and throw in some constructive criticism if I feel it would be helpful.

Trump En Londres

So Trump came to visit London yesterday. He's probably still here. I don't know, I don't care, and that's the point. Donald Trump has no relevance to me or my life. I really don't see why I need to see his name everywhere, all the time, with horrors and cries about what a 'RACIST! WHITE SUPREMACIST! EXAMPLE OF TOXIC MASCULINITY! HOMOPHOBE! STUPID IMMATURE BUZZWORD!' he is.

Criticism, Ego and Humility

So recently I published my first book on Amazon via Kindle Direct Publishing. The two stories within are not the first I have ever written, but they are the first I have published. So far I have gratefully had two reviews from book bloggers that agreed to review my book. The first was diplomatic; she rated it 3/5 stars which is positive although she didn't 'love' it. She gave me what I found to be a very constructive opinion of the book, looking at the positives and what she didn't like.
Unfortunately, the second one sucked.

Do you have a choice?

I am halfway through this brilliant book I started yesterday; The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck. It presents the kind of philosophy I am trying to emulate and practice; rational pragmatism, positive nihilism. That we should only care about things that are absolutely important to us, and that it's important to check what we value because that will determine how we react to things. That trying to be 'positive' actually reinforces a sense of inadequacy, and that it's better to accept that life is full of shit and you can work through your negative experiences to find happiness. Struggle is what creates reward.

Stupidest TV Shows Ever

This is a list of TV shows I think are dumb. (As always these are just my opinions, feel free to disagree, its boiling hot in the UK right now and I just want to have a laugh).

Why I'm not a fan of the Romance genre

There are a few literary/film genres I have never cared much for. Westerns are one; I find them SOOOO boring. Never seen The Good, the Bad and the Ugly but I do love Gran Torino. Another genre I don't care much for is horror. I like psychological thrillers, dark dramas, or horror that has a good story (I enjoyed the 2017 It movie), but I find 'pure' horror boring and contrived - jump scares, possessed children, gore, no real plot.

The 'White' Black Person

When I was in secondary school (bring out the anecdotes) a few kids described me as 'black on the outside, white on the inside' and said I 'acted white.' (Sometimes to my face, other times behind my back). The demographic of my secondary school was mostly black, and the white kids tended to be Turkish or Eastern European. Nonetheless, it bothered me, to the point where nine years later I'm still whingeing about it. But I do have a point, I swear.
